Winter blues...

I'm rather behind in my reviews. I was hoping to catch up over the weekend but I'm finding it hard to concentrate on one thing for more than a few minutes. It has taken me over a week to write my Watchmen review...which ended up being a rambling mess anyway! I'm ill again...well technically I never actually got over my winter flu, so now have inflammed lungs which makes breathing really fun (and sleeping almost impossible). So I've been off work for a few days, had a very uneventful weekend and am facing the prospect of going to work in 12 hours still feeling rubbish. Nice. Plus the Japanese classes I signed up to take have been cancelled because there aren't enough people in the class, which means I'll have to start learning the language solo. Oh woe is me...etc etc.

But...I am still on a high after seeing Twilight for the third time (eek!) and pondering which film to see this week: Defiance, Australia, Slumdog Millionaire or Seven Pounds. Too many films and too little time! Any recommendations?

My brother said Slumdog Millionaire was the best movie he saw last year.

So sorry to hear you've been ill. And, I thought your review of Watchmen was well-written, so maybe I just like rambling?

I hope you are feeling better soon, Mariel! I was considering going to see Twilight for the third time tomorrow since I have a holiday, but I probably won't. I have too much else I need to do.

I would really like to see Defiance and Slumdog Millionaire. Maybe hubby and I can catch one next weekend (he has to work tomorrow so I won't be able to go then).

I haven't been to the movies in year :( I'd love to see all of those, but especially Slumdog Millionaire.

I hope you feel better soon! Get well! and if Twilight lets you do that.....hehe...all the movies you want to see sound so good. I'd go see defiance or Slumdog Millionaire myself :-) but i'm like Michelle, if I do get out to a movie, 9 times out of 10 it's with the kids! I did see Tale of Desperaux over the holidays in Essex, it was very enjoyable. Have to get the book now! Daughter liked the movie very much too.

You realize that with your last two posts, I added 6 books to my wishlist? Bad, bad blogger!! lol

Get well soon, Mariel! I disagree about your Watchmen review, though :P I haven't been to the movies since The Dark Knight, so I can't help you there, sorry!

I haven't seen any of those, but all are on my list. I'm all about seeing Will Smith, but then again Slumdog Millionaire is really big right now... might be worth a shot.

I'm trying to get some of these old reviews I need to post under control lol. I'm not really keen on seeing any of these but I've heard Australia is good.

I hope you're feeling better, Mariel!

I enjoyed watching Twilight and will probably buy the DVD once it's out.

This post could just as easily have been one of mine. I have so much I want to do and yet can't seem to just get down to doing it, or rather just can' seem to get stuff finished. As for writing reviews and reading books - gah.

Shame about the Japanese classes, that sucks. What an interesting language to be learning though.

Hope you are feeling better soon. :(

I haven't seen any of those films yet, and probably won't catch them till they are out on DVD, but Slumdog Millionaire looks great from the clips I've seen.

Naida - Thanks. I'll probably see Australia next week.

Stephanie - Slumdog Millionaire does look really good!

Ali - Thanks! I tend to ramble when I'm tired or stressed. Glad it made sense though.

Literary Feline - Thanks! I loved Twilight, can't wait for it to come out on dvd. I saw Defiance this week, really worth watching.

Michelle - I go in phases, sometimes I see a film every week and other times I don't go for months! Doesn't help that its so expensive now.

Susan - Thanks. I missed Desperaux and its one of my favourite children's books, so I'll have to catch it on dvd later. Sorry for adding to your wishlist, but they are worth it. I hope you enjoy them!

Nymeth - Thanks. Your review of Watchmen was great too.

Kim - I agree, Will Smith has really proved to be a good actor recently. Too many films and not enough time!

Ladytink - I'm so behind in my reviews and never seem to have the time! I recommend Defiance, it was much more character driven than action.

Melody - Thanks. I want it on dvd now!!

Quixotical - There's never enough time! It looks like the classes might be running after all, I'll find out Friday. I'm hoping Slumdog will be out for a few weeks, so I can catch it later.

I hope you feel better soon! I've been stuck in the January blues this week.

If you have an ipod/mp3 player, check out JapanesePod101.com, it's quite good and they have all levels from very beginner on up.
