I've been away again...a lot! There's something about this year that has kept me ridiculously busy, but not that I haven't enjoyed it! Firstly, a fabulous weekend at Latitude festival, then a wonderful week in Tuscany, Italy for my little sister's wedding. Sadly in between I managed to gain a fractured finger during a karate session, which is still causing problems.
On to the festival fun though. What a great weekend! Latitude is such a chilled out festival in Suffolk, in some beautiful green fields surrounded by woodland and a lovely lake in the middle. The weather was glorious for the most past, and we had a great crowd of old and new friends. Musical highlights were Jonsi (yes he has indeed changed my life!), Angus and Julia Stone (with surprise guest, Damien Rice singing along to You're the one that i want from Grease) , Frank Turner, Rodrigo and Gabriela, James, Tankus the Henge (indescribable!) and Laura Marling. The most pleasant surprise (aside from Damien Rice of course!) was the delightful China Mieville, who read an extract from his new novel Kraken and was so excited to meet us marine biologists that we talked for quite some time about all things cephalopody...I may have fallen in love!
Who's coming with me next year? ;)

You went to Latitude! I went to a festival over here that same weekend that had a pretty similar line-up, but sadly no Jónsi :( However I have tickets to see him this Autumn, so all is good :D I'd love to join you next year if life and money allow :P
Oh I so wanted to go to Latitude, it always sounds amazing!
I got a copy of Kraken yesterday, I hope it's going to be really good.
You were in so many events we were in! But you seem to have been a lot closer than us a lot of the time (especially for Angus and Julia Stone - jealous, we were so far away). Laura Marling was def a highlight for me :) Oh and you got one of those flowered garlands, did it survive the whole festival, I was wondering how robust they were.
Yay I want to go again next year, but it might be a toss up between V and Latitude. Glad you had such a lovely time there and in Tuscany. Ouch on the finger though, is it begining to heal?
Nymeth - Oh yay, at least you get to see him! Hope you can make it to Latitude next year, its definitely worth it.
Madelaine - I'm hoping to get to it later this year...so many books, so little time!
Jodie - Laura Marling was wonderful! I went straight out to get her albums after. My flowers did survive and are currently adorning my bedroom!
Finger is still broken, had it reset last week so no karate for another 3 weeks at least :(
I'd looove to go to Latitude! or any festival of this kind for that matter:P
I'm a bit gutted I had to miss the electric picnic this year, but I'm glad there's always future opportunities x
