Greetings! I can see land!! We're about 3 hours from Darwin (the jewel of Northern Australia apparently...and with 2 Irish pubs!), so I'm keeping my eye out for any saltwater crocs, humpback whales, sharks, dolphins, and any other creatures that may be lurking in these gorgeous turquoise waters! I'm leaving the ship tomorrow morning and will be staying in Darwin for a few days (being merry1 with the rest of the crew!!), then heading to the east coast to visit some friends, so probably won't be posting much for a couple of weeks. I then have a mammoth flight2 back to the UK, giving me lots of time for more reading and hopefully some new exciting films like Iron Man!
A very happy May to you, wherever you may be!
1 yes we are sailors, so that generally means getting drunk..
2 25 hours on 3 flights plus 8 hours in airports!

Woohoo for seeing land!!! I can't imagine how exciting that must be for you...get merry as can be :) Hopefully on a 2 1/2 book rating scale.
What a horrible flight :/ At least you get lots of reading time like you said, but I don't think I could stand that...seriously, I'd go mad!
wow! that sounds so exciting! right now I envy you so much...
have lots of fun, don't mix wine and beer (makes you queer) and tell us all about it when back in the UK. I hate long flights, even though I never took one, but if you're relaxed enough it's true you'll get lots of reading so yay!
ohhh I've just read you were a children bookseller for many years! I am too! so there is hope for me...:D
I wouldn't mind being a sailor...
Happy holidays. Looking forward to having you come stay for a few days when you are back in Blighty. Get some reading done so you can add some reviews when you are back, you have no excuse with flights that long...
Have a great time! And wow, that's such a long journey you have ahead of you...but books will make it easier.
Enjoy yourself, Mariel! And read lots of books on flights... so that we can read your reviews. ;)
