I'm a bit slow on joining this years Readers. Imbibing. Peril. Challenge, hosted as ever by the fabulous Carl of Stainless Steel Droppings. The challenge runs from 1st September to 31st October and involves reading books that fall into several categories:

I will be participating in Peril the First, reading four books that fit into these categories.

My pool of potential reads include:
Dracula - Bram Stoker
The Hound of the Baskervilles - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Lonely Werewolf Girl - Martin Millar
The Invisible Ring - Anne Bishop
The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova
White Crow - Marcus Sedgewick
A Game of Thrones - George RR Martin

Also on my bookshelf:
An Instance of the Fingerpost - Ian Pears
The Girl Who Played With Fire - Stieg Larsson
The Collector - John Fowles
Fingersmith - Sarah Waters

For more information, take a look at Carl's challenge post, and above all enjoy reading!

I read The Historian and very much enjoyed it. One of the few recent vampire books to genuinely frighten me in places. I love Dracula - it's been a while since I read it. And Lonely Werewolf Girl - I am so glad to see it on your list, Mariel! It's one of my favourite books - it was my book of the Year a few years ago. I hope you like it! You have some excellent choices here.

Oh Hound of the Baskervilles! Wish I'd thought of that one, autumn just screams for some Holmes doesn't it? Hope you enjoy Dracula!

lola - i've heard great things about the historian, but have so far held off because i thought it might be best to read dracula first.

Amanda - I doubt I would be free on the sunday evening meets, given the time difference, but i do like the sound of this readalong!

chris - well i loved faeries of new york so much, and your werewolf review could have persuaded anyone!!

Susan - I hear there is a sequel too? Still can't believe I haven't read Dracula...for shame.

Jodie - Just finished it, my first Holmes book and I loved it! Plus you've got to love those quick reads ;)

Ooh, I've read everything in your pool! Well, sort of; I've made three attempts to finish DRACULA, but I've never quite managed to do so. I'm definitely in the minority there, though, and I enjoyed all the others.

I really need to read Lonely Werewolf Girl. I have had it from the library twice and still haven't finished it!

Memory - I definitely want to read Dracula, I think a trip to the library might be in order!

Kailana - For some reason I thought I owned it, but have just realised that I don't!
